"Me Time" (as a Mommy)

For months I have been envisioning my return to post-baby exercise. Even while I was still pregnant I pinned motivational quotes and shopped online for cute workout outfits that I would fit into after the baby. Although I was able to practice yoga routinely when I moved to Florida, I longed for something more rigorous. Watching Hubby leave on a run or exercise at home was great. His body and spirit have transformed. Now it's my turn!
I received the go ahead from my doctor yesterday - clear to exercise. Excitement and fear gripped me. I finally get to, but now I have to. After all my big talk about eating clean and working out after the baby was born, it's time to put up or shut up...so, as soon as I got home I worked out.
Yesterday I started out slow just doing the prenatal yoga my body was familiar with. Hubby and Munchkin were playing in the pool and Littlest was hanging out with her pacifier. It felt so good! But then Littlest started to cry, and cry, and soon pacifier wasn't so cool to hang around with. I was not to be deterred. Especially not on the first day! Luckily this happened just as I was finishing. I made it through the first workout. Whew!
Today it got harder. With Hubby at work, I set up Munchkin with Jake and the Neverland Pirates (thank you, Netflix!) and Littlest was snoozing away. Even Maverick was off staring at lizards through the window. I was going to have a nice, relaxing time. Ha! As any of you parents know, "Me Time" is really hard to come by.Two minutes in and Littlest wakes up - hungry. Sigh. Then Munchkin arrives in her princess dress holding a ballet slipper.  This only means one thing. I am to play the Grand Duke and see if it fits. We do this twice and she is satisfied. Off she goes, back to Jake. Meanwhile the screaming continues from the hungry one. Must be contagious because princess is back claiming she needs food. I let her know that lunch is next on the schedule and offer a few pretzels until then. Okay, back to the workout. Only now Maverick has decided my yoga spot is the perfect place to lay down and take a nap. I relocate the dog and try to concentrate on my breathing. Ah, there is the alarm to remind me to take my vitamins. Must remember to do that after lunch. Okay, Littlest is still unhappy and she must be on the outs with pacifier because she doesn't want anything to do with it. Ugh. Another alarm reminds me that it's about time to feed Littlest. Luckily I only have the final stretch to go.
Although it wasn't quite the yoga experience I used to have BK (Before Kids), I wouldn't trade it for anything because even though you read about how important it is to have "Me Time," this is what my "Me Time" is in this season of life, taking care of my precious babies.
I still plan on working out and even taking up running, but I will also remember that I'll have plenty of time to myself when they are grown. Right now I don't mind sharing my "Me Time."

It's over...almost.

Baseball season. Just the game tonight and one tomorrow afternoon. Then the 2013 season will be history. This one was memorable - for the team and for the family. I won't even mention a single stat for the team. Let's just say, they've had better years. As for the family, we crammed a lot in. Since spring training:
We announced that we were pregnant. Yay!
Maddan left her beloved day care (we love you Miss. Bonn)
I left Disney after 20 years. I started when I was nine.  ;)
Maddan, Maverrick and I packed up and moved to Florida to be with Daddy, leaving all our family behind. :(
Daddy had to get used to Maddan, Maverick and (a moody, pregnant) me. No easy task!
    I turned 40, woohoo!!
We welcomed our precious Malone into the family. She has made it complete.
So, this season is definitely one for the books, at least for the Sewell family. It will be nice to have Hubby working 'normal' hours. But, I have to admit, I'm going to miss watching the games. Over the years I have learned to respect and love the game. Looking forward to 2014!

Happy Fall Y'all!

So, today is the first day of Autumn. Growing up in Southern California, I know, is not like growing up in a place with four distinct seasons. But, I will argue that leaves changed colors on a few trees in the neighborhood and it did get cool enough to wear scarves and gloves...a few times. But now being in south Florida, I'm having a hard time getting excited about the change in seasons. I haven't paid too much attention to the pumpkin recipes, cute sweater and boot outfits and festive holiday decor that is now dominating Pinterest. It's hard to get in the spirit of things when it is 85 degrees and humid as heck. I'm fairly certain the weather isn't going to change too much, but I have been told that it will get cool enough here this winter to add a layer, maybe even something with sleeves!
Happy Fall Y'all

It's official...

...we are a party of four! On Wednesday, September 4th at 9:27 p.m., we welcomed daughter number two into our family. Although the plan was to have a c-section, we were not prepared for her to arrive twelve days before her due date and six days before the date we had scheduled to meet her. She, however, had other plans. Our sweet baby girl was ready to meet us. And that, come to find out, was a good thing. When she arrived she weighed in at 8 pounds, 11 ounces! How big would she have been if she waited on our timing?! Having two beautiful, healthy girls has been such a blessing...and an adjustment. We are still in the honeymoon phase so hubby has not quite adjusted to the new hours and Munchkin has yet to show an ounce of jealousy - yet. And, to be honest, I don't remember it being so hard to get out of bed in the morning after a handful of middle of the night feedings. But every day, every hour, every moment I thank God that we are the Sewell's, party of 4.
